exposed truffles
(1 post) (1 voice)-
Greetings colleagues.I've just been over to the truffle patch and found a >500 gram truffle at the base of an oak(no such luck with the poxy hazel nuts)-sticking about half an inch out of the ground .It isnt ripe yet,but its not rotten either, although the surface above ground is dessicated and cracked .I dug around it but didnt disturb it -the rest seems firm and salvageable.I covered it in soil.I'm posting this for everyone's info because there probably will be a few large truffles this year which will spoil if not discovered and covered over and its probably worth a stroll and a good look under the oaks for signs of above ground truffles, even at this relatively early stage.I'm not kidding-its bigger than my clenched fist and I hadnt got half way down to the base I'd say.Happy hunting for 2009Posted 1 year ago #
