When training your pup or dog with truffle oil, start your pup off with a fairly big blob or dob of oil for it to smell, and as it gets used to the smell reduce the amount of oil you use. Until it is the smallest amount that you can hardly see it. This will get your dogs nose working harder and it will identify the smell deeper in the ground. If you are using a canister or cloth or material for it to find, don't forget to lay false canisters and baits for them so you can see if they are finding the oil or your scent.
