About Us

Welcome to the website of the Australian Truffle Growers Association, Incorporated.

In establishing this website, it is the Association’s wish to contribute to the creation of a strong and vibrant truffle growing industry and to see it develop from the present early stages across southern Australia, for the success of all participants. The aim of the website is to provide a forum for all truffle growers to meet and exchange ideas and inform themselves regarding the planting, management, harvesting and marketing truffles and to better understand the culture of truffles and how to enjoy this exotic tuber.

The mission of the Association is to promote the growth and development of the truffle industry in Australia by:

  • having informed growers and sellers
  • creating awareness of the industry
  • researching best practice in all aspects of the industry, and
  • sharing information.

The website is structured to provide a general information base for any interested viewer and includes additional information that increases the value of membership of the Association. Truffle growing has now been established in Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and New South Wales and click here for recent estimates of grower numbers by State. The Association has people in all these areas interested to talk to new growers and other interested parties. We work closely with the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) and they have assisted us in the production of two publications of interest; Taking Stock of the Australian Truffle Industry, 2008, and The Australian Truffle Industry R&D Strategic Plan 2009–2011.

We hope that after exploring our website you might be tempted to join us in either enjoying the pleasure of cultivating truffles, sampling our produce or just learning more about the thousands of years of truffle culture.
