New Truffle Grading Standard

Posted by wayne on April 28th, 2009

The Association has been working with the New Zealand Truffle Growers Association (NZTA) on the preparation of a truffle grading standard for use in the industry. The standard is based on the EU market truffle grading standard (the only known standard), which is appropriate since a major market is the established truffle markets of the EU countries. The work has be largely done by our NZ colleagues with input by the members of the Association Committee. The importance of maintaining quality in the production and marketing of truffles cannot be over emphasised, if we want to maintain markets and prices both in Australia and overseas. We would appreciate your comments concerning the standard. The background is included in a paper by Dr Ian Hall.
